Keeping rain out of mooring cover tower slots

Anyone come up with a way to seal the holes for the tower better? I thought I saw a thread where someone had some wraps around the base, but can’t find the post.
 
I had some clear vinyl left over from a windshield project added some snaps to create a rain deflector. Not pictured is a small plastic clamp to keep the pieces from spinning when the wind blows

Wow, that’s a great idea. That must keep most of the water out.
 
Yes it helps not bone dry like the winter shrink wrap but those gaping holes let a lot of water in
 
My 2008 cover actually directs the water to the tower holes. I built a dam that channels it away. It helps but does not solve the issue.20200606_081407.jpg20200606_081426.jpg
