Alright, I need a kneeboard that will fit in a 242x factory surf board rack. The board we have is a beginner type el-cheapo board and is pretty thick so it won't fit. If it was 3/4-1" thinner it would fit. I don't want to buy a third rack to mount to my tower. She's gotten pretty comfy on this board and I would like to step her up to something a little more suited to her skill level. I've looked at boards all over the internet, but no one seems to list thickness of the boards. Anybody know of a board that will fit the factory surf racks?

What size is the space in the rack? I can measure mine when I get home if you don't have it but, I may be able to get some info on a option or 2.

Here’s our new attempt for this year.

I plan to hang our Zup board in this fashion.

The rack is 2 3/8".

I’m listening?
No knee board I know of fits the rack. I checked so I also thought about hanging it from the bimini frame as shown by @BigAbe75 in the earlier post but never worked out the details. I would not buy new rack. Seems like keeping simple would be best way to move fwd.

I even thought about taking one of my racks somewhere and having the surf board slot modified so that it is 4" or so wide.

Hey, I have a kneeboard rack, if you want it?

I just read your first post, @F.M. where you said you didn’t want another rack, so maybe this doesn’t help.

If it does, let me know and I’ll get it out and see what collars I have and whether I have a swivel or quick connect for it. I had it installed on my aerial tower on my SX210.

Thanks. I really appreciate the offer. I would like to not have to mount a 3rd rack, but if all else fails, I'll have no choice.

Looking at the O'Brien catalog the higher end models give more information on tip and tail rocker bit I'm not seeing a overall thickness with pad. You may have to resort to chatting with their customer service to see if they can give you additional info.

Did you try mounting your homemade rack lengthwise on the bimini, instead of across the back? Would have that helped with the rope rubbing?

I did, and if still rubbed.

That’s disappointing. I thought we had a sure thing. If nothing else, hanging crossways in front of the tower could be an option... but I’m a little afraid of banging my head on it as I stand up when I drive a lot.

Going to have to experiment this year. :)

Don't give up on yours, it looks like you will have more room. Yours looks much higher than mine. My DIY rack hung further down off of the bimini frame. I might try to see if I can change my mounts to get it higher without rebuilding the whole thing.

Is there a way to put your padding staight on the frame rails and strap it?

Might be able to. I'll look at it this weekend. Weather will be keeping us from going out anyway.
