Lake Check in thread?

I thought about making a Tablerock lake checkin thread for people to post if they are headed to the lake when and where type of deal. It would mostly be for people that regular, but any visitor would benefit.

Is this appropriate?

If so should it be in destinations or gatherings? It seems like a case could be made for either.
