Hello new owner to a Yamaha 242 limited s and it has a large Bimini top which I originally thought was awesome. Now I am supposed to pick it up tomorrow and starting to think that the huge frame has to always be up and doesn’t just fold up and roll the canvas is this true or does it somehow fold/collapse and remove the canvas or how do I tow it down the road

You’ll wanna take the canvas off before towing it at highway speeds. You don’t need to fold the tower down to trailer it.

Looks like the same as the 242X top or similar to it. I have 242X with same top. I love it. Prob smart to take the canvas off for long distance trailer but in the years I’ve had my boat I’ve never wanted to take it down while boating. Plenty of sun in bow and on swim deck when you want it. Big plus IMO

No problem towing it with the canvas off.

Jet Boat Pilot has a good video about how to reinstall the canvas - it can be a little tricky the first time you do it:
