Not every day on the water can be great. I sucked up a rope This morning during a morning surf session. Things I've known but have been lazy on:
1) I don't pull my clean out plugs like I should. Mine are seized in there. Need to get them out and rebuild them. I've been telling myself to make sure they come out for weeks...haven't done it.
2) I've been telling myself to get a good tool set on my boat with a spark plug wrench. I almost bought one and decided to keep looking for the "perfect set." Anything would have been better. Than nothing this morning.
3) don't put too much on your passengers. We were trying to sort out new gear, with new people, while trying to find dolphins for my friend's daughter... my experienced surfers would have been fine, but too much going on for new people. They should get to enjoy it, but I made them part of the crew.
4) Should have killed the motors sooner... should have been watching the rope closer, should have made sure the "rope guy" stayed focused on the rope, etc etc etc. lots of things could have prevented the rope being sucked up.
In the end, I'm thankful for a beautiful sunrise, time with friends, and a second motor to limp home with.
tomorrow, I'll do it again.
