Hi folks! We purchased a Scarab 165 HO back in 2017 as it fit in the garage. Still brand new but building a dock and want to upgrade to either the Scarab 255 or Yamaha AR240. Any recommendations?

I'd say AR240, but that's mostly because it's cheaper and offers more bang for my buck. Scarab offers higher performance engines and a more aggressive styling though so if you are into those things you may be willing to pay a premium for those things that Yamaha doesn't offer.

Someone else just asked this too. Same Scarab (new) with a used Yami 240. After weighing the pros and cons, they went with the Yami. Between those two I would pick the Yami.

Thanks for the comments. I am doing a little research for hubby. We love our Scarab although I find it too fast 😉. Like the clean out ports on the Yamaha as well as their strong presence in East Tennessee. Scarab is not well known here with not a lot of service options for the Rotax. Will take a bath on the trade.

Too fast??? You can throttle back a little bit.. It's a max limit not a default speed :D

If you go for new and change your mind in a few years you will have taken another bath..maybe consider used/private party to help contain costs?

Bigger boat is nicer until it cost too much or it doesn't fit where you need it to. I suspect You will be happy with the upgrade in size regardless of the brand chosen. I favor the older Yamaha 230s but they are getting up there in age, so not for everyone.
