So I pulled my originally flawed rear bench seat to take to the upholsterer and he took one look and said it was flawed by design how the corners pull out over time. I'd like to see pictures of LX210/LX2000 bench seat re-upholstery if you changed up the design. My goal is to not have the corners pull out over time by design flaw. I'm including a picture as you all know what I am talking about....

I'm thinking of re-designing with 3 pillow seats as the two larger outter ones would be screwed in and the center still removeable. This would allow for the corners not to fail as show and all the ones I have seen of this age show...

Thanks in advance for any and all advice for upgrades.

The earlier ls and maybe some lx boats had a different design. Not sure it’s a better design but it might give you some ideas. Or you might find a set to retrofit.

Yes, I am familiar with the LS2000/LX2000 style seating but not fond of that. My boating style isnt spinning the boat on a dime therefore I dont need those bucket style seating as the earlier years were setup. I like the newer bench setup, but I envision just having 3 cushions with the 2 outer fixed and the center removable for access to the gas tank.

i ditched all that thick open cell foam and went with closed cell neoprene and heavy marine grade white... of course i was half way through when I decided to stretchy the engine bay 8.5" for the repower... I also narrowed the bow seat bases about 1.5" each too as I was always bangin my shins on them ....

I french seamed the bench seat base in the first design and the issues I always have is the seams leak water.. and the open cell foam soaks it up.. hence the switch to seamless covers and closed call neoprene... which is much firmer to walk on and still is soft enough to take the harshness out..

this is not a fancy as the orginal scheme however it is more functional and easier to repair and the red is bad in UV no matter what...
