I ordered @Mainah's push start mod and shrill to chill mod as well as fender covers. I couldn't be more pleased with the parts or their results. All of the wires going into the push start controller are cover with some type of hard epoxy so the wires can't rust or pull out. The alarm chill mod is also covered with this. Installation of the push start was easy, I went the @swatski route with the buttons by the blower switch there isn't much room for error with the holes so there was a lot of triple checking measurements. The wiring is all plug and play. The chill mod is also a real easy install. The wiring diagram didn't match up with what I had (because 15-16 are different than 2017). I talked to him on the phone and sent him a couple of pictures of my wiring and he had it figured out in no time. It's so nice to start the engines and not have that connext alarm screaming. The fender covers are great and will keep them from rubbing the wax off and scuffing up the boat. Thanks Chris you were a pleasure to deal with.

Thanks for the kind words.

Yes I have a mini version of my shrill to chill mod that only requires three connections behind the tachs. Unfortunately the wires that must be tapped into vary for each model and model year to model year more significantly than the push button mod. I need to do more hands on research to make sure I am sending with the correct instructions for each model/year. Hopefully a few folks at gatherings that I am going to will let me behind their helms to take photos and if desired I can install the shrill to chill mod. I am going to order, program, wire, and pot a bunch of boards for this so they are on hand for a quick 5 minute install. Well my son will program, wire, and pot. Pricing will vary between $40 and $50 for those kits depending on shipping and payment options. None will ship until I am more confident about the wiring on each model though.

What is the shrill to chill mod?

It makes the start up alarm beep twice during the connext boot up instead of that loud annoying continuously shreaking alarm noise.

It will impact all alarms such as start up, depth, and warnings. 1 second beep with 4 second pause instead of beeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. The cycle starts with the beep the moment an alarm signal is received so no delay. I stress tested my design on a continuous loop for two days. It passed.

Can the shrill thing work with non-Connext boats? I hate how loud mine is when the depth alarm goes off. I'd much rather have a beep the than blaring constant sound.

This mod will work with any Yamaha that has digital Tachs or Connext 1.0. The hardware device that I developed is the same. It is just hooking it up correctly with all of the different wiring between models. A different version would need to be developed for Connext 2.0.

Well mine has both digital and analog tach. Could this work or do i just need to find the buzzer and try to muffle it some? I leave my depth alarm set for 3' because I like to venture into shallow sloughs to explore. When retrieving the boat on the trailer the alarm will obviously start blaring once I get the boat on the bunks and it's annoying. Everyone starts to look over like I just set off a timed detonator.

It will work for your boat and all boats back to at least 2009 from what I know at this point. A different version will work for other boats as long as they can reach the buzzer. The issue with Connext boats is many can't reach the buzzer.

In order to reach mine it will likely mean removing the entire dash top since we don't have an access door.

Yup, love my fender covers - really nice. I did the DIY push start, and might even buy a kit in the future. Some of my crap ass wiring must have wiggled loose, lol.

Removing the front cushion might be a better option.

I had thought about that too. Might even do the trash can mod while I have it out.
