During the initial 10-hour service, the plugs are checked to ensure they are running at proper temp and no combustion issues related to fuel system. Unless you have an issue, no real need to check the plugs. Check or change them at 100 hours as per the maintenance schedule. The plugs should last several years, but it's a good idea to remove them to make sure they don't get corroded and stuck in the heads. Check the condition and gap, and if good, put them back in.
Is it necessary to check the gaps on them when you do change them? Or do ngk plugs come pre gapped to where they should be. Any time I’ve ever checked a plug it’s been good.
They come gapped already but never assume the gap is correct. Always double check. They can get damaged in shipping or someone else handling them and then putting them back in the box.

Yup they come pre-gapped, but I'd check them at the store to confirm before purchase if you can. I also don't correct them if the gap is off because I'm paranoid I'll damage the weld - I would just swap them. Haven't had to do adjust the gap of a plug in the last 15 years or so though.
