Hello,

New to posting on this site. Recently purchased a 1996 Sea Ray F16 with a Mercury 120XR Sport Jet motor. Have been unable to get a spark from the spark plugs. Have verified that the on/off and safety switch is operating correctly with a multimeter. It also appears that this boat has been fitted with the red stator which I understand is the replacement for the black original one that experienced issues. Any advice as to things to check or where to go from here? This is my first boat and trying to get it up and running soon. Thanks!

Hi Cobra,
Thanks for the specified search result. Have been reading a lot of your postings as well to try to get a better handle on some of the things this engine runs into.

Also will add that I have tested the rev limiter to see if this was limiting spark by temporarily disconnecting it and this had no effect.

Will keep reading as well, hoping to find something soon and get out on the water. Thanks!

Next step I am planning to take is to replace the voltage regulator and the brains of the ignition system. Have read that a bad voltage regulator could allow the current to burn out the CDM Module Ignition Assembly.
