Mercury Sport Jet 120 flushing: doesn't look right

I just bought a Sugar Sand Heat jet boat, it has a Mercury Sport Jet 120xr2 manufactured in 1999. Since I will use it in salty water, I ordered the Mercury Flush Kit, which is a $28 hose adapter.

I tried to flush it following the manual: disconnected the cold water intake (looks like a short garden hose), connected the actual garden hose through the "flush kit", opened the faucet and let water run. The manual says nothing about turning the engine on to flush it, so I left it off.

I expected water to come out from the water outlet, but only a few drops were coming from there. Almost all the water was just leaking from the rear-lower end of the engine.

I made a short video to show clearly what happened:

I briefly turned on the engine to see if it would suck the water from the hose and pump it out of the outlet. It didn't.

Is this normal, or should I do something with my engine before running it again -- maybe fixing some leak in the cooling system?

This is my first boat, so I'm lost here. Thanks for the assistance!

On my old Seadoo with the 240 sport jet running on the hose, water only came out the bottom. Is that white hose the bilge pump, or does water come out while running.

Edit. Watched the video again. That white outlet is your visual check, and while on the hose water will not come out with any force.

It is an outboard engine adapted to a jet drive, you do not run the engine , gravity allows the water to exit the engine and it has no water box to cause issues with flushing. So you are fine doing it the way they told you to.
