on a recent trip to San Diego my wife and i tried several modes of transport and realize that we didn’t need to rent a car at all since our hotel was next to the marina only 4 miles from the airport. They had a shuttle, we didn’t know, so paid $50 for a rental car and $60 to park it at the hotel. Other modes of transport for us include those pictured below.
Segways, $50 for a two hour tour, bike taxi $10 per person per mile, electric bikes $70 for two bikes for two hours on Coronado, rental bikes for $1 per 30 minute rental period, no fun runs but got some running in for “free”, almost forgot about he ferry ride to and from corona, $9.50 per round trip ticket.

Biggest surprises, the Kia Soul we rented was spacious and the electronics integration is great. The electric bikes still require the user to peddle but they enhance or supplement the riders efforts in 2 to 5 multiples, finally the rental bikes are high tech with comfy run flat tires, frame mounted basket and cup holder, wired headlight bell, three speeds and front and rear disk brakes.

Love that town.

I just uber. The ferry is cool because you can park in Coronado to avoid the mess when going downtown. Uber is about the same price as the ferry if you are in a hurry, it after it closes.

I do this every where. When I went to Puerto Rico this past December, the Taxi's were $25 to go across the island! Uber was only $4.
