Motor electrical problem?

On my 242 you can get to it either by removing the wood piece in the port storage compartment or you can reach it if you can fit in the helm compartment. I'm just small enough to slide in there.

Removing the cup holder would likely all ow you to reach it, but I doubt you would have much luck disconnecting and reconnecting the wires. Mine are neatly tucked up back there.

I had that problem last year and it was my ground connection at the battery. Both cables were on top of each other and the thickness in the insulation prevented one of them from making good contact even though the wing nut appeared to be tight. It took me about 3 trips with intermittent issues to finally figure it out.nn

If you do need to get to the lanyard I think pulling the throttles is a good option.

Well, I don't have the wooden port thingy, so I think I will be going for the throttles.

Any quick instructions or tips on that anyone has would be appreciated. I haven't even looked yet...

Before you start pulling things apart check the clip on your lanyard. Is it warn from use? My friend had that issue. I had to increase the thickness with electrical tape to lift the lanyard switch slightly higher until he bought a replacement clip.

If I'm reading this correctly you should have a carpeted piece of wood that separates the helm compartment and the area where the throttles are mounted. It is held in place by 3 or 4 screws. If you can get at least the top half of your body through the helm opening you should be able to remove this separating wall relatively easily. Taking the wall out would be easier than trying to remove the cup holders in that area, IMHO.

By the way, I mounted a 10" subwoofer in the area under the throttles that's how I know about the separating wall.

That I do have. I was worried about reaching that far back. Plus, I hate getting in there (that is where my amp is, so I can get there and have done so many times...).

You think that is a better option? I will have to try that first, probably.

@Gym, I don't use the lanyard frequently, and the boat is not that old. So I am doubting that it is worn. But I will check that first.

Thanks, both!
