Hello, I hoping I can get some feedback on why my motors are hesitating at low RPMs on my 2004 AR230. Motors start and idle good. When I move the throttle levers into forward and start to give it gas, the motors sound like they’re going to stall (and sometimes do). Once I get past the low RPMs the motors sound as they should. I removed both jet pumps for maintenace and still have same issue without the jet pumps in. I’m installing new spark plugs tonight. Could it be the spark plugs? Spark plug wires? Fuel injectors? Or both motors need to be rebuilt? Any help greatly appreciated!

I am just learning these engines and boats but I am thinking three things providing you are not getting misfires. Just general engine stuff for an engine with coils...Weak spark or too much fuel and flooding. Low compression for any number of reasons. The third is a guess as I am not too familiar with the exhaust systems on these but if water is getting into the exhaust the back pressure would retard an engine like that until the pressure from higher RPM pushed it out. I would start by checking your battery/charging system and change the plugs. Then check compression but not sure why both engines would loose it at the same time. Beyond that I am all out of ideas.

Most likely spark plugs need changing, or fuel is stale etc be careful on the number 3 plug as those often get stuck and break. If any plug resists being removed stop and place penetratingly oil down in the plug area then work the plug carefully tight and then loose then tight and loose repeatedly until it works out, force it and the plug will snap off in the head.
