Just purchased 2022 FSH 195 Sport and am looking on guidance on where to mount fire extinguisher. Im assuming it should go in the "changing room area" but there are a lot of different spots to put it.

I put mine under the seat on the aft port side. My thinking is if there were to be a fire, the engine comp would most likely be the place, so I wanted it close, but not IN the same compartment.

I found a used helm dry storage tub with a holder in it for the port side so I have one stock size one in each dry locker at the helm and I'm getting ready to purchase and install a sea-fire FM-200 system for the engine bay with an auto temp activated head and a manual pull handle. Im waiting on a couple answers from the manufacturer.... I buy the hand helds from west marine when they are on sale and rotate them through the boats and cars and around the house as they age... I usually inspect all the safety gear every year on the registration day (in FL its your birthday month for everything except things over 8600 GVW which is in December)

also its a bad day in a boat when you dump your fire extinguisher on a fire and wish you had another... also its not a bad idea to take a course that actually lets you use the different type of extinguishers on different types of live fire... It was one of the required recurrent trainings when I worked in Data Centers and worked in the R&D lab...

Be sure to get a metal mount for whatever extinguisher and placement you choose. Every plastic Kidde mount that was included has broken on me.

I put my original one right behind drivers seat so it's out in the open for easiest access. Then realized the helm and head compartments have stickers that say "fire extinguisher inside". Instead of removing stickers, got two more small extinguishers and placed inside. The one in the head compartment is really easy reach and mounts right to the existing bolts holding the passenger storage (glove) compartment in place.
