Move Captains Seat to fix vinyl squeak?

On my 232 Limited, the captains chair rubs against the throttle console/combing pocket when underway, making the horrible vinyl "squeak" as it rubs. I have adjusted the seat base mount to move it a little more to port and away from the console. I can move the seat pedestal base by unscrewing/rescrewing in a new location, but that really looks like a PITA and I would have holes to fill. I have considered just adding some felt or velcro at the point it rubs to silence it. But I first want to see if my measurements match similar 230 series boats.

My base measurements are 3 1/4" from the locker edge to the edge of the base. The right side is about 10 3/8" from the gunnel wall to the base. Does this closely match any other mounts in a 230 series boat?

The biggest reason that I am asking now is that my SeaDeck order is being cut and I asked if I could do a custom pad and move the cutout hole about a 1/2 inch left (towards to ski locker) to move the pedestal base.

I have a 2005 so this may not apply, but I can move my seat forward and backwards and which way is forwards and backwards is entirely dependent upon which way the seat is facing. So if I had the same problem as you, I would rotate the seat to face away from the point of contact and then using the lever below the seat move the seat forward. Now when you rotate the seat back to forward facing it should be farther away from the throttle area.

I wouldn't be able to measure mine until tonight IF it doesn't rain, which it is supposed to for the next 3 days,

just thinking outside the box, have you looked at the bottom of the seat and how it attaches to the pedestal, could you move the seat bracket over an inch instead of the pedestal? that way any adjustments would be out of view, maybe even an adapter plate?

Great suggestions. I have moved the seat a bit to the left and locked it there. It turns out a little more than I like. Repositioning the seat on the seat base bracket may be an option but when I loosened the bracket I think the bolt/screw had a backer on it as it was loose but still very much attached to something inside the cushion. I'm afraid dissembly will be more involved then it's probably worth.

Two things come to mind that you could try.

1. Possibly take the seat to an upholstery shop and have them trim down the spot where it rubs. It's possible that they could simply shave down the foam underneath and reuse the original upholstery.

2. Make a mounting plate that would offset the seat so you could mount it as @Scottintexas suggested.

Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to keep the mat as its so once this rain let's up , I'll start playing with some of the above options. I did pick up some felt and velcro (use the loop side) to adhere to the fiberglass and stop the squeaks.

If anyone does have a seat base measurement, I'll still take it!

@JetPowered did you ever come up with a solution? My 232 limited rubs also. So much so that the seat won't rotate to port to about the 10 o'clock positon.

I added a long strip of Velcro, the fuzzy side of course, to the fiberglass. Fixed the problem

on my 232, the seat would rub in that same area. I just adjusted it so it was slightly askew...or moved it back so it wouldn't squeak. I also changed out the seat pedestal at one point so the seat could be raised/lowered depending on who was piloting.
