Is this screen something that can be inspected without a ton of disassembly?
I "think" this screen would be easily seen once you drain the oil "if" you could get your head over the opening, I don't think there is enough room, at least on my 07 230 to get you eye lined up, I bet if you had a scope or maybe even you cell phone camera you could see it,

@capt - have you changed your oil yet ? if not could you try to snap a cell phone picture before you refill,

Well, I actually have a bluetooth endoscope for working on cars. 15 bucks well spent btw. Seems like a good thing to inspect during oil changes.

I have decided to wait to change the oil. The seller gave me a copy of an invoice from a local shop where he had the oil and filter changed and a solenoid back in October of last year.
