May have been an 8. Only had the rental a short time and haven’t kept up with Ram trucks at all. Less than in the GMC and ran a higher rpm on the highway. I assume that Enterprise truck rental doesn’t order them with anything other than a standard trans and rear end. It was a Bighorn trim package.
Pulling 10k lbs plus 1000 lbs in the cab and bed, a little over 8000 miles from NY to Washington, down to California and back to NY, up and down mountains all over the Midwest and northwest, that engine/transmission combo got me almost 11.5 mpg (rarely went over 70 mph).
Around town, i get 16 or 17 mpg. On a long trip at 70, with no load, i easily get over 20 mpg. And it’s a really nice ride.
