This is the level of detail that $10 gets you. Images of the land are not important but all those little red icons are rocks which pose varying degrees of danger to our boats. Some of the shifting sand areas are shallow enough for our boats to run aground and there are lots of shiprecks.

I generally boat on 3 lakes very regularly so I don't often need chart plotting, but if I find a great fishing spot or something I use MX Mariner. I've had it for years so I don't know what the cost is now but it has worked very well for me. It has some similar features too in that you can download US maps, shows speed and uses device GPS. Just another option.
