My key assembly broke again! I am in need of some solutions. The plastic barrel broke and the key assembly will not stay in the hole through the dash. I glued it back together a couple of years ago but I don't think that's an option now. I would like to setup a push button start if possible. Could I wire both engines to one key assembly and then have individual push buttons to start and stop the motors?

I think I have seen other threads out there about setting up a push button start for newer models. Mine is an 07 sx230. I also cannot find the thread anymore.

Please anyone that has some knowledge about electrical stuff please help!

The key switch is certainly not super special and the wiring schematic is on the shop manual.

You can certainly wire this to buttons, or use an aftermarket keyed switch.

The button start that was offered had more intelligence and circuitry, not something as easy as wiring 2 buttons (without buying that kit, which i don't think is being sold anymore )

Do you have the shop manual? If you are handy I'm sure you can wire it anyway though choose.

Best of luck.

If you wanted buttons only and no keys, you could have 2 buttons per engine, a latching for On/Off and a momentary that would bridge On and Start to let you crank with a button push. Many options, best of luck, let us know how you proceed.

I still need some help if some one could draw a diagram I think I could figure it out from there. I want to hook up one latching push button for both motors to turn them to on position and one momentary push button per motor.
Plan to use these switches. If anyone could help me figure this is that would be great!Screenshot_20210809-195808_Amazon Shopping.jpgScreenshot_20210809-195627_Amazon Shopping.jpg
