Hello from Las Vegas! New to the forums. We are just about ready to pull the trigger and buy a new to us 2016 SX240 with 20 hours on it. Coming from a 2002 21ft Larson deck boat with IO. Anything we should know about the SX240 before we buy it? Thanks!

Yes. It's awesome. Welcome to the forum. You'll find jet boats handle a little differently than IOs. Just take it slow and easy till you get the feel. I would recommend you go out without guests the first couple of times until you're comfortable.

Thanks Gym, that’s the plan. I have read up and did my research before this purchase especially on the handling. I know the 2016 has the articulating keel, would there still be a use for Fins such as the ones jet boat pilot sells? Or would that be redundant? Thanks again.

Some have a tough time adjusting to the slow speed handling even with the keel. My recommendation is to give it a real try with out the adding a steering system and after 3-4 times out if you just don't feel like you have it grab a set of one of the steering systems

Not much to know other than they are great boats. I only have a 19' and it's great! We were just out on the lake all of today (well, technically yesterday.... Yeah, still awake....). If you need any help with mods on it or ideas, let me know.

Yes, fins can still help with handling even with a keel. I have fins on mine and after a bit, jet boat driving is 2nd nature. It is actually better for turning I think if you know how to use it. Tight maneuvers at the dock are not an issue at all.

I'd also recommend Sea-Dek, better radio system, dual batteries w/ switch, charger, external plug-in right off the bat. Just a few of the items I've found most useful :)

I have a 2016 SX no issues with it so far. I went from a 25 ft pontoon boat to my SX. The handeling takes a day or 2 to get use to but nothing to hard. I dont have fins or anything and can park her on a dime. The only problem i have found is if you want to add speaker pods then you have to get creative
