Hey guys,

First time posting to this group. recently bought my first jet boat (Scarab 195) and still in break in period, just hit 8 hours. The engine light is lit and the manual isn't much help. Is this related to the break in period or is there some other issue?

Many thanks - Bob

Mine came on as soon as it rolled over to the 10 hour mark, and I mean exactly when it hit 10 hours, I watched it happen. Everything seems fine and is functioning normally so far. I feel as though they are programmed around this time to make us bring them back to get checked out, but perhaps someone more experienced would know.

Thanks Robert - all has been fine since.

Just purchased a Scarab 195 HO Impulse. Have 9 hours on the hour gauge and the check engine light popped on. Powered up and down a few times and it persists. No P codes indicated. Called my dealer who tells me he can't help unless I trailer it up to his shop so he can put it on the computer. Really? Per the above comments it seems like a common problem. Maybe I'm working with the wrong dealer. Any suggestions?

The factory advises a break in maintenance on new motors, 10 hours is what I recall and read here in this

The factory mandates a 10 hour break in maintenance on new BRP motors. The dealer I purchased my 165 was up front about this. I don't recall the wrench or engine light activating however. It did throw the wrench icon at 25 hours, as this was another maintenance interval programmed into the software. I ignored it until the end of the season and had it serviced when I laid the boat up for the winter. 35 hours or so.
