I’ve been on the forum for a few weeks, but had not written an introduction post. We live in Commerce Township, Michigan in an area known as “The Lakes Area”, so we have a lot of options nearby for boating. We usually boat at Cass Lake, which has a state park with a beach and picnic area on the water.
We bought our first boat used in 2016. It was a 1973 Glastron V-156. Here’s a picture of it. She’s a beauty, no doubt. After five seasons of struggling with old boat syndrome and lacking amenities like a swim platform, we decided it was time to upgrade.
We bought our 2021 SX-190 in July. It has everything we wanted. Here are a few pictures of it, including a shot from Lake Erie.
That’s my son with his first walleye. That one had to be thrown back, but he caught a keeper later that day. It was delicious!

I got a nice discount from Safeco even for my Coast Guard Aux cert from 1989! These days I just keep up to date with their latest publications - I think the most recent is Boating Skills and Seamanship 14th edition.
