Hi All,

Hoping to get some advice on this issue. I can't find anything similar searching here or on google.

We bought a Scarab 195ID last summer and loved it. There were some minor issues (fuel gauge stopped working, small holes in Bimini, wake shaper not fitting...) so the dealer has had the boat for a large part of the off season. They fixed the minor issues plus performed it's first minor maintenance/winterization plus de-winterizing. We put it right in the water and immediately had issues. None of the instrument panel is working. No lights of any kind, no gauges, no radio--completely dead. BUT THE ENGINE TURNS ON JUST FINE. We put it in the water since it will run, to test drive it. While driving, I found the reverse gate will not lift out of the way. The boat drives in reverse well, but it continues reversing in idle. It will move forward, but it's obvious most of the power is blocked. It moves slowly and kicks a lot of water up. If you're familiar with I/O engines, it feels almost like driving with the trim way too high. Since the gate should be electronically driven, I assume its control is tied to the instrument panel power source.

Killswitch lanyard was in place just fine (also, the engine starts and run)
Boat Power is switched to ON
Reverse gate is LOOSE when manually moving it. Not that it's going to fall off, but there's definitely nothing stuck.

Any ideas on how there could be enough power to start the engine, but not enough to play the radio or anything else? I'll be looking into batteries and fuses as my next idea.

Thank you!

On yamaha most often when this happens a cable that hooks to the battery was missed. Yamaha have several ground wires and it's easy to miss one.

There is a breaker called "Boat Power" check to see if it is tripped, if it is not tripped check the voltage coming out of the breaker (if you understand how to work with electricity). I had to replace some of mine due to internal corrosion, even though they were not tripped the corrosion interrupted them.

Thanks for the idea! All of the wiring is tight and clean, as far as I can see. There are 3 ground straps connected to the battery, which should be right. If the issue does end up being a loose connection, it's going to be too small for me to see... thanks!

Thanks! This is what I was currently investigating. How do these types of breakers work? Is there a way to reset them like you would a house breaker, or are they a one time use item? All I can see/feel are the breaker boots. The manual is not helpful as it only says to use approved circuit breakers, but nothing about how to use them.

Thank you!

The rubber boot on the breaker is only for water protection. Press each breaker. If it has popped you will feel it push it when it resets. If it is not tripped you will only compress the rubber boot and not feel/hear a button click.

I'm having the same issue with our boat 2017 Scarab 195 Open. Engine starts but nothing else? Also, someone hooked up 2 yellow cables and 1 red cable to the positive terminal on my battery. Are the yellows supposed to be Ground?
