Been adding oil all summer. Getting ready to winterize and decided it is time to really explore where the leak is. Using camera found a very difficult access but possibly doable with new tools. Bought stubby metric hex set and ordered box wrenches - may work waiting for rain to stop. Need sizes for pan bolts and Hex bolts. Yamaha couldn't of made it any harder to fix. Thanks for any help.

Look on Partzilla for your year/make/model of boat and then there’s parts diagrams that should show you which bolts you’ll need… If that’s what you’re asking.

Wow. Just did that when you replied. Thanks for the info. Now I have try the tools to access it hopefully.

Unfortunately found the leak from the oil pan gasket. Does anyone have a rough estimate to pull engine to replace gasket?

Its not a gasket it is Yamabond or similar sealant. Where are you located?

Live in Rochester NY. Was about to call Mcmillan marine to get estimate. Then I thought maybe I could get engine out! There I go thinking again.
Is it possible to drain oil and clean as best possible and use some kind of bond
I can see the oil squirt out when heated up. A real bummer. 1st boat. Had fun this summer just kept adding oil. Got serious about where it was and thought tightening would stop it. The boroscope had traced it inches away and bingo bummer.

Nope not at all, the only repair if it is the oil pan is to remove the pan, clean properly, and reseal it. There is no cheat. Engine has to be removed

That’s a bummer.

2 things that come to mind.

1. This is a $10 fix if you can pull the engine yourself.
2. Can you get a finger on the location that’s leaking? If so, I’d try cleaning the area with brake cleaner and applying layers of high temp silicone, letting it dry for a day re applying and rechecking for the leak. Worse thing that happens is you have a bit of silicone to clean up when resealing the pan. Best case scenario, it stops the leak for cheap.

Years ago, I had to pull an engine on my boat a few times. With enough room and tools, it’s pretty easy for a garage mechanic to do. I’m sure yours would be similar. Let me know if I can help in any way.
