It seems that quite a few people have added a second sub wired in parallel to bring the load down from 4 ohms to 2 ohms.

My question is there any particular benefit to this vs just swapping out the factory sub for a 4 ohm DVC sub and wiring the coils in parallel to get the same 2 ohm load? And avoiding cutting a hole in the starboard side.

Yes two Subs adds more surface area thus more sound. If you take a single sub and wire it to 2 ohms it will sound louder with the more power but still no where near as loud as the two subs running at 2 ohms.

Yep, it was like doubling the bass in my boat. Very crazy sound even with IB subs! Waiting to see if my boat can do a water dance now..... LOL
