I keep getting an over temp warning light. I have checked for blockages in the intake, impeller and clean outs and there are none. I also swapped out the T-Stat but still getting it. I have been flushing with salt away and each time I flush it seems to lengthen the amount of time before the light comes on. Im thinking there might be a buildup issue with the exhaust. Has anyone ever used CLR to flush?????

I'm also curious if any one has used it aswell or what people think is the best to keep the salt built up down

yes, there is a very good write up in the FAQ from 'crankygypsy" about building a closed loop flush for engines that have been neglected,

do you have a YDS ? I believe it would tell you real time, what your sensors are operating at and where to look for the problem, otherwise a infrared thermometer would help,

Aloha,

I'm chasing a similar problem (2017 SX190, 1.8L) all of a sudden. I pulled the T-stat and it's bad, stuck open not closed and I've pulled the ThermoSensor Assembly and the ThermoSwitch Assembly. I believe the ThermoSwitch Assembly is bad, no continuity during the hot water test but I'm doing it again just to be sure.

I've been using a Salt Neutralizer since day 1 and the T-stat housing was really clean compared to what I've seen others looking like. Same thing with the coolant passage coming off the head to the T-stat. Not sure about using the CLR, don

The closed loop idea from Crank Gypsy was a good video to watch.

Is it an exhaust over temp or engine over temp?
