Please help. Engine overheating while on hose. Water is coming out the back. Doesn't make much sense

Are you getting the same amount of water out the back as normal?

How long were you flushing? Were you above idle?

Why were you flushing?

Relax, a short term overheat is unlikely to harm anything.

Just one engine overheating, or both?

was water coming out of the pee hole or just the baffle by the jet?
when was the last time you ran the boat in the water and on the hose ?

Ok, glad to see some folks willing to help. Haven't ran boat in about 3 months. Just put it on hose to run it a little bit because it is good for it. Fired up starboard engine and ran it for about 5 minutes. Overheat light comes on and I kill it. Had water coming out of jet pump but very little from exhaust. Swapped hose to port engine. Same result. Really freaking out right now because we have trip planned soon to orange beach. Please help and thank you. :)

And I think it is very strange to have both overheating on hose as they have completely independent cooling systems.

You may need more water pressure

I still think there isn't enough water pressure. If its both motors it's gotta be ur water

I've ran it on the hose at my house with same water pressure for 5 years though guys. For up to 15 minutes at a time

There's a very small chance both sensors are going to have problems at the same time

That's what I'm hoping guys. I'm gonna put it in the water and see if it overheats there. Then I will know more
I believe this is the best plan. My guess is that the worst case scenario is that you have some insect activity in your cooling system and the most likely is that you did not have enough water flow.

I'd tend to go with the water psi also.

But being your first time starting up after storage makes me wonder if your battery connections and battery voltage is up to snuff. Also, I've had an overheat light come up on old spark plugs. Changing plugs on our vintage engines seems to cure a lot of engine related issues. When's the last time you've replaced them?

Glad it worked out for you. I am filing water psi in my mind in case I run into this in the future.
