Places of interest on Lake Lanier

My family will be booking a place on Lanier in a few weeks and will be there Monday-Thursday. Any places to check out? Any to avoid? We will have our kids ages 6, 5, 2 with us. Any kid friendly places to grab lunch or dinner? Normally I boat on Allatoona.

For the southern part of the lake, Lake Lanier islands has much to do for young families. I have not been there since end of last season so I do not know at what capacity they are running in regards to covid. Otherwise, once you get past Port Royale marina, heading northward, the lake becomes more residential. You can grab lunch at any of the marinas. I spend more time north of Port Royale. Ultimately, there are plenty of coves, and some small beaches to anchor no matter what part of the lake you decide.

These are screen shots from my navigation archives. I like this cove the best due to protection from chop and wind from virtually 3 sides. It feels secluded but it it’s off the main channel of the lake. Hope that helps.

I'm a fan of fish tales all the way down in the south end of the lake. I've only been doing take out due to covid. Not sure what the seating situation is.

I like big creek tavern. Only negatives are dock is inconspicuous and more an old rickety dock, otherwise, pig tails which has plenty of dock space.

Up north, at Gainesville marina, skogies, is a great place. My second favorite. Has live music, corn hole, and breakfast buffet on weekends, but have not been there since last season.
