Hi,
Looking at 2 boats one a 2107 AR210 (122 hours) for $40K or a 2018 212 Limited S for $48K (200 hours).

Is this a great price for the 212?

Thoughts on which way to go?

I don’t think that’s a great price for a boat with 200 hours. I paid 50 for mine with about 12 hours on it last year. COVID has raised prices but I’m not sure if it’s that much or how long the high prices will last.

Ive never been in a 210 but I’m definitely happy with the power in the 212. It isn’t overly powerful though so I wouldn’t really want any less.

I just bought a 2019 212S with 10 hours and about 2k worth of extras (SeaDek, thrust vectors and ceramic coating). I paid 49k. If you’re asking yourself if you should get the 212 over the 210 I would definitely do it. The boat is a rocket ship compared to my old SX190 (which is comparable to the 210 top speed). Huuuge difference.

An 2017 AR210 is a $36k boat...any higher and your being ripped off..

Thanks for the feedback so far, maybe a price of $45 would be a better price? It does come with a cover and the wake surf package.

Hard to tell you what’s a good price. So much of it for me was based on hours and overall condition of the boat. The 212’s seem to be harder to find used compared to some of the 19 and 24 foot boats. Plus some of the pricing right now is still very high from COVID.

pretty mint condition, comes with wake surf package and surf board rack. The guy also put the extra sea skin in the Ankit locker and the back of the boat. Looks nice.
I’m just nervous about the 200 hours and the price or is this pretty good
Thanks

I pretty much bought the exact same boat with 10 hours for 49k flat 3 weeks ago. If mine had 200 hours I don't think I would have offered anything over 44k. That's just my opinion. I made the decision that if I was going to spend that much money I was going to have to get something as close to new as possible vs the cost of the boat brand new. If he is selling that boat for 49k with 200 hours, you have to weigh that cost against a 2021 that's 57k new. Obviously at the dealer you will pay more fees but over the course of how long you will have the boat will that be worth it to you? Also, you need to check whether you will have to pay sales tax on a used boat in your state. In Georgia there is no sales tax on private party boat sales. That saved me thousands over the price of new.

thanks, maybe I wait for a 2019 or 2020 to come up and jump on it. Scared of people think 200 is a lot of hours (I do as well) then if I decide to sell I might lose out.
Thanks again

One thing I learned while looking for used. Don't be afraid to walk away. I get that things are crazy with COVID right now, but there will always be other boats. It's really easy to start to convince yourself to buy one that you have reservations about. If you don't feel 100% comfortable with the purchase, that's your gut telling you it isn't the right one. Stay patient.

Very true, and agreed

200 with good maintenance is nothing, my bud bought his 2008 210 with 300 rental hours kept it for 11 years finally changed engines at 950hrs
Agreed the engine will keep going, it’s more the price. I think for $45k I would buy as the price would match the hours. Thanks for your feedback

Went down to $47 ... and includes a Surf Package will not go lower

Thoughts on the boat for $46k in the covid season vs $44k?

These prices are a bit insane, but it is what it is. Likely not going to get any better, anytime soon. Comes Spring, things may get more expensive, stll...

As far as the hours I would, in general, be more cautious with a boat with too low hours if it sat unused, however these two boats you are looking at are pretty new and unlikely to have been sitting around too long, unattended.

The thing is, given the difference between a new boat and one that's 2-3 years old, regardless of hours, being less than 20%... IDK... I would probably look for a new one with full warranties etc.

Thanks for the reply, scary if the prices stay. So either wait a couple of years for prices to come down or buy high. I guess the other thing that may happen is the recession (not to get political) but if this happens boat will be cheaper...

Overall sounds like still seem high to buy!

That's kind of the conclusion I arrived at earlier this year and decided to go new rather than used.
It's all very speculative of course but used prices are nuts right now due to limited supply. While every manufacturer is pushing production limits it most likely will be a while before things settle down again.

And then, if looking at it from a historical perspective (for whatever that may be worth, lol), new boat prices simply... never go down.

Both seem to be high....don't let your emotions make the purchasing decision, be patient, more boats will come on in the spring I believe and you should be able to find one with a lot less hours.
