Our 2008 SX230 HO has dual batteries with the switch, it say Off, Battery 1, All, and Battery 2. My question is do I need to turn it to All for both batteries to charge while running down the lake or will they both naturally charge if I am running off of 1 battery?

Found out Battery 1 is toast, will barely hold a charge - Battery 2 charged right up and is in great shape when I load tested it.

ALL needs to be selected in order for it to be charged while under way.

Perfect Thanks!! That's what I thought but needed a sanity check.

No worries, we all do sometimes. . . . . .

I didn't think the boat would have enough juice to charge both. I always ran on one with the extra battery as a back up along with a jumper box to be safe. I'll try putting the switch on all on Saturday when go out

I would recommend alternating between batteries and not using the Both/all position on the switch. I don't think the charging system on these boats will keep two batteries charged. Plus if you forget you are using both and you kill the batteries, you don't have a backup to get you home!

I typically alternate between batteries between each trip and save the other battery for a backup emergency battery. When home I will top off the batteries between boating trips using a charger. But I also boat primarily on Lake Powell and don't want to get stranded 50+ miles up lake where we typically camp.

Cheers,
Toby

Great advice, we love boating at Lake Powell as well, best lake on Earth IMO.

I wired my switch so that my "house" battery is always used for accessories, and my starting battery cannot be used for them. The main purpose of my switch is to be able to start the engines off my house battery if the starting battery were to die.

Put an ACR between 1 and 2 and fuhgettaboutit!

I will one day. I typically put the boat in on Friday and it stays in until Sunday. Pull the boat out, plug in the dual-bank charger/maintainer and it's good for the following weekend.
