I wished I could share this video I got on messenger today but it was some guys boat and trailer running away down a hill and just bouncing all over the place nearly hitting a truck before it finally ended up in the water. It made me think of the boat ramp closings and some poor guy just said screw it and unhitched the trailer and boat the the top of a hill in the woods and hoped for the best.![]()
Local ramps are open here. NO idea how long that will last, and I'm not sure exactly HOW they are open.
Officially state parks are closed. No employees are coming to work at the state parks. The lakes the parks are built around are Corps of Engineers run, and the Corps maintain the ramps. SO access to ramps is allowed, but I no longer have to pay to get into the state park that maintains the roads to the Corps maintained ramps. It's a cluster fork of who's running what, and when, and how.
At this point we're 2 weeks out from getting the boat on the water anyway, but when that time comes, I'm going to drive right past the closed State Park Check In Point, and down to the ramp. Unless they have a locked gate or some really obvious signage I'm considering it a go.
Had not considered that even a little bit, and that's a great point. I'm not sure how they would handle that. Again, I might plead ignorance in the absence of large highly visible signage. Are you worried about parking? WI hasn't closed ramps, but I thought that, if I had to, I could stealth launch and recover, however parking the truck/trailer in the lot might lead to a ticket or tow.

If the check in station is closed, they can't take my $75 for the yearly pass I usually buy anyway. Wonder how much a ticket is. There's an ROI number in there somewhereI mean, the cost of a ticket could just be the cost of boating, I guess?
