I have installed a Sony marine stereo in my AR-230 Yamaha. It was working great, until this season where I noticed the rear speakers dropped off. I thought maybe the rear channel was toast on the receiver, so I ordered another as the original is a few years old and exposed to salt water. New stereo went in last night...same issue. Wires look good at the speakers. Do you think maybe a common ground to the rear speakers could be the issue??? Any advice welcome.

Common ground hasn't been used in almost 40 years.

Did you re-wire the stereo?

My guess would be corrosion on the speaker wires. Try running some speaker wire directly from the radio to the speaker (remove speaker and test)
