I have a Black 2012 242. I am thinking about removing the stickers too. My question is if there is a noticeable difference in the color underneath compared to what has been in the sun the whole time?
You can see little ghosting but not much. I did do compound and waxing.

It really depends on how and where the boat has been stored or kept for the last 8 years. If it has been in the hot sun then there is a good chance that the black gelcoat has some oxidation on it. This was our Orange hull after 9 years of previous ownership. I removed the graphics to see this.

After a weekend of wet sanding, compounding, polishing and waxing it looked much better.

This was 4 years ago. You could try removing a small piece to see if you have any oxidation.
