Removing aqua mat

So I started to remove the aqua mat from my boat. When removing the Mat the top layer is pealing off leaving the bottom film behind. Any ideas on how to get this off or do you think I could use fine sandpaper and scuff it up and stick the new marine mat to it. I've tried 3m adhesive remover which worked great for the glue and I also tried a 3m eraser wheel.

Yea, mine did the same thing.

Do this. Take your time.

Yeah I tried the 3M adhesive remover which worked for the sticky glue but it doesn't seem to wanna touch where the mat pulled off and let the tape part down.

That was my issue. I soaked a rag, and used a razor, but you have to be careful.

Alright. What's your thoughts on using fine sandpaper to scuff it up?

Use painters tape to mask the areas you don't want to.
