I have a 2010 242 Limited Jet Boat with a wireless remote mounted at the swim platform.
Has anyone removed one and replaced it with another wireless or with a wired one?
I have now idea how one would ever get at the thing as I find no access available and it doesn't seam to want to be removed.
I ended up breaking off the faceplate and have the small 2 wire cable coming through the end piece of the device but still can see how the end piece would ever come out. I got a new remote as part of a new replacement radio. It has a "wired" remote but it looks the same as the one in the manual for "wireless". I'm confused on the 2 units looking the same but not the same?? Plus how can I ever fix this if I can't get at it from the inside?
Attached is a picture of the old (now broken one) and the new with the "wired" cable connector. I can attach more if it helps anyone.Aquatic AV Remote (new and old).jpg

All good now. Removed the cup hold and got access to the mounting brcket although a skinny long arm would have helped. Man they make this stuff tough to access.

I have a 2010 limited s (same boat as your just with a tower). I’m surprised your first remote is wireless mine was wired for power at least. The other way to access the remote is by removing the clean interior out plug cover (the one under the hatch and which the plugs must be put though in order to be installed).

Yes, mine was wired for the 12v power as can be seen in the picture. When I found a new replacement radio, it came with a "wired" remote. So now I have to find out how hard it will be to run the cable. Can you expalain further what you mean by the "clean interior out plug (the one under the hatch...". Not sure where this is. I see a round cover on the STBD wall inside the engine compartment. Is this it?

The part I described is part 1 on the attached screenshot. I believe the round covers you mentioned in the engine compartment are access ports to reach the speakers and or fresh water tank on the starboard (right side of the boat when you are sitting facing forward in it).

I had looked in there some time ago but don't see what access is provided from there. I would run the cable from under the console, all the way down the STBD side through the storage room under the side seat, past the fresh water tank and catch it under the cup holder and to the mount area. Hoping that will work. I don't see how the clean-out access center cover will give any help even if there are cables coming through there from somewhere else? Am I wrong in this thinking?? Perhaps I'm missing something here and need a closer look when I get to the boat again.

I did the same as you when I replaced mine last year. Not the easiest, but thankful that I’ve got fairly long arms!

You may have to remove some of the of the exhaust tubing to get access to back of the remote but I’m certain that it’s how I got my best access to the remote. I replaced mine with a wired fusion remote and lead the wiring to the head unit via the route described earlier. I think I reused the stock power lead on a new USB charging port. Good luck.

If you remove some of the exhaust tubing,I recommend you use liquid soap to lubricate the connection points to ease removal and Re installation. The default option is to muscle it. Chances are either way you will be-doing it from an uncomfortable position.
