I have a 2016 Yamaha SX240 and am replacing the hull decals. The existing decals came off without any problem and now ready to replace them. My question is: do you install dry or do you use a soap solution to position the decal and then squeegee out the bubbles and water? Don't want to have to buy another set.
Thanks!

I had to do this already and I used a soapy solution with a squeegee. Let the heat get to it after and dry out everything. It is a bit of a pain and easier with 2 people.

Thanks for the feed back. I had just stopped at the dealer and talked with the service guys and that's what they said they do. We will give it a try!!!

With full transparency ... after installing them, I had issues with them the next season after the install and I ended up taking them off again. This was after wiping the area down with alcohol. I am not replacing with the OEM Decals this time. They are cheap. I am looking at IPD Graphics because of the cost to quality ratio .. it will last longer then the Yamaha Decals. The ONLY reason I am looking to replace them with a anything is because of the ghosting in the Red Gelcoat from the original graphics. It is an eyesore for me and I cannot seem to get them out no matter what I have tried. I don't have faith that wet sanding will do anything to these Yamaha Hulls and given the rest of the quality issues Ive seen in the 2014 242, I am pretty confident they did not put a think layer of gel on. IMO.

I used the soap on my SX240. Trick is to keep them covered for a few hours with the backing before you pull it off. I ended up printing out another color thats more of a crome color. 20180805_195121.jpg20180805_140902.jpg

Looks great. I finally got my original Yamaha graphics on yesterday. I wish they were as easy as your. On the original decals, you have to pull the decal off of the paper before you install. It worked great with a soapy solution and then used a credit card wrapped in a linen free hand towel. Like Phil said, as big as they were it would have been easier with two people. Live and learn!!!!
