Replacing Yamaha SX230 Bow Light with Seasense Stainless LED

I wonder if a spacer or a few cut from half inch starboard or a plastic cutting board would get it high enough to avoid the reflection from that lip?
 
Hopefully I don't regret getting a brighter bow light even though it says it is the same 2nm visibility as the stock one. Won't be able to find out until next summer unfortunately.
 
@Bruce Thanks for the tip. I installed the Atwood stainless one mentioned above. Overall, not hard, but the wires are kinda short. I like the little indicators on the top, so you know your lights are lit.

Do you have to keep the rubber grommet on for the seasense light? It seems to flop off the sides.
