In another thread I had mentioned that my 195 wants to 'creep' forward a bit when in neutral. In order to get it to stay in one spot, I have to engage reverse just a bit. I sent the dealer an email about it, and here is the response:

The boat has the correct set-up for the reverse gate, we have noticed most of the jet boats do creep forward in neutral. The adjustment to the reverse gate is made so that when in forward the gate lock mechanism is engaged. This lock mechanism is a safety feature implemented so the gate won’t fall while under way. If you try to lower the gate to achieve a “true neutral” the lock will NOT engage properly.

How does that explanation sound? I guess I can live with it, but it seems a bit strange, not to mention somewhat of a safety hazard, to be set up that way.

Yes, they do creep. The water has to go somewhere, the impellor is always spinning.
The best neutral is OFF.
