Hey everyone,

I was out taking the boat for a test run last weekend after fixing the silicone seals in the jet pumps and I noticed I was getting feedback in the port engine throttle. By feedback I mean it felt like something was banging on the throttle cable. When I looked at the port jet stream coming out of the back of the boat I could see an interruption/splash in the flow that matched the rhythm of the feedback. In looking at the pump the only thing I can think of is that the reverse gate is getting into the jet’s water flow and being kicked up and down as water flows past it. On the trailer, when I put the throttles in forward I see that both reverse gates lift up, but both have a slight edge hanging below the nozzle. If I try to push the starboard engine reverse gate up in this position it doesn’t move much. It will move up but is rather stubborn about it. But when I try to push the port reverse gate up, I can move it about 2 inches and it’s much more loose. Is there an adjustment to correct this? Or am I missing some part? Or do I need a new cable? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Mike

Based on age it is likely that your boat would benefit from replacing the shift and steering cables.

You can adjust bucket position as you replace them.

I had this exact issue and was easily fixed. Look up the video that Jet Boat Jeff did on Youtube.

I'm referring to just adjusting at the reverse bucket.

The adjustment on the reverse gate worked! Took the boat out today after reinstalling the intermediate bearing and no more feedback on the port engine throttle. Smooth as butter! Thank you!!

Great to hear!
