Rooster Tail Port to Fill Ballast?

I've never been on a Yamaha Jet ski so maybe somebody here who has can tell me how much flow and pressure comes from the rooster tail off of the jet pump while throttled up. I had an idea to open mine up on my AR192 and plumb it to fill my new ballast bags rather than buying a pump so it would be kind of like Centurion's Ram Fill (which is bad ass by the way). I am kind of figuring that there wouldn't be enough flow to make it worth the trouble though.

Not even close to being enough flow. I just switched out all of my 3/4 hose for 1 inch hose and added 2 more pumps ( 3 total ) to make it tolerable. Now you can do what @trace did and make a coupler that goes inside your gate of your pump. That fills fast.

I really like the idea of properly plumbed ballasts, but I will definitely need to see if I can find some info on the coupler idea. I am very intrigued.

Very nice setup and clean install. Do you vent your ballast bags? Most of the plumbing diagrams online show a vent, but if you don't have air in your bags to start with, I don't understand why you would need a vent. An overflow is probably not a bad idea, but a vent too?

Yes my bags are vented/overflows also. It helps decrease fill times as well.

Please excuse my coat of wax still on my boat. I haven't put the shine to the boat this year yet.





The small clear hose is my vent and the larger black hose is my drain line.
