Hey legends, first time post on here, am sure there are plenty of similar threads. I ran aground today and sucked in debris, engine only working on low revs and reverse, starts to rattle on higher revs. Any tips on how to clean out or troubleshoot?

If she were a Yamaha you would pull the cleanout plugs, reach in and remove whatever is stuck in the pump.

Being a Scarab you have to clean out from below. So put her on the trailer or get your mask and snorkel out. Actually don't get the mask and snorkel out getting stuck down there could be fatal.

Remember your boat is sucking in water and trash, sand ,rocks when you are powering up in reverse in shallow water.
It has a sea doo pump and engine when you back off the trailer or a beach you are taking a big risk of putting things in the pump.
If you get just weeds You can do the reverse move because otherwise you need to get under the boat to try to get the weeds out however if you suck in ropes rocks etc you have a problem not having the clean out ports.
When I had those same pumps I would literally need to go to the ramp and put it on the trailer to try to clean out the pump and often need to remove the intake grate to access the impeller.
As for the reverse move I came up with that a couple of decades ago so now most reverse buckets are operated electronically rather than manually so when you are drifting backward turn on the key get the controls in forward as the boat moves in reverse the water will go into the intake and back wash the weeds from the pump and the intake grate This usually works, with the electronic reverse buckets it just takes a bit more to do it but when you see the weeds float out from under the boat you can go about your business that is for weeds, in your case the fastest way to ruin your impeller is to power up in reverse in shallow water , beaches and boat ramps are the worst.
