I have an 05 230 HO. I pulled the pumps off before winter so I could refurb the impellers and replace the bearings and housing. I've got the boat back home and I'd like to start it without the pumps and impellers in to hear the engine with no other sounds.
Any opinions on running the motor with nothing attached ?

I have not done it but do not see any reason not to. You do not want the RPMs to go too high and the engines will rev quickly with no load so be careful with the throttles.

Well we run the engines on water for flushing. A little less weight on the shaft shouldn't make that much difference. I'm with Bruce. Don't rev to high and I wouldn't run it for a few minutes (on the hose).

I have done it many times with almost every make of jetski. So no worries man

That's what figured. Was worried about the lack of load. But didn't rev it and all is good. Thanks
