Samsung A7 / A7 lite as chart plotter

Not gonna lie. Been thinking about upgrading the tablets for the boys this fall. At what appears to be under $200 overall, this is a pretty nice solution for that. 10yr old has been running the same tablet for like 4 years now and is due for something nicer. Gotta think even if this isn't top of the line, it's gotta be nicer than what he has.

Also... @tabbibus check out this post where I added a USB and voltage monitor to the dash in my AR190. I've been using it with a short cord and a ramp mount to keep my phone charged and visible at the helm. It's worked decently, and can charge faster than my phone and drain down (although doesn't support Googles fast charging :( )

Night and day compared to the old Amazon Fire my girls have. Spent 160 at the end including case and tax. I really like it. Runs navionics like a champ, youtube and netflix no issues. Even tried the xbox cloud gaming and got some No Man's Sky playtime in. haha

This seems promising
It'll work for sure, just remember to watch battery use or have a charger plugged in as it'll eat the battery using the screen and GPS constantly. Try it outside in full sun to see how it looks too. I used my phone for the first summer on the new boat and added the Axiom this year, so while a phone or tablet may not be ideal, it will work...just depends on your needs. I think keeping it shaded is important for visibility and helping to keep it cool.

I bought a Samsung tab a for this (navionics) last year.
Took it on the boat with me to try it out, personally I could not read it in the sunlight and sent it back.
If I could have read it in the sun I would have kept it.
Purchased and installed a 7" garmin.
Pros are that it is easy to see and has true depth, the cons are that I find it tricky to use.
I use the navionics app on my phone to "plan" or look at what I want to do before I go on the boat, but no way I can read it while on the boat in the sun. I even found myself one day on the floor under the helm trying to hide from the sun and still could not do it.
In a perfect world I wish I could run the actual navionics app on the garmin.

Garmin owns Navionics so the data is the same. Or do you mean you like the ease of use of the app? If you mean use, then it's simply a matter of learning the differences. My Axiom has the exact same data as the app and is easy to use, but some of the features requires a bit of tinkering or reading the manual - found some features are in different areas and some where harder to find, but almost everything in there is the same.
