Sand on cylinder 1

While replacing valve cover and spark plugs on my tr-1, found sand on cylinder 1. Why this is happening and how to cleaned. Thanks in advance
 
Ar 250 with a tr1, am i missing something. Where did you find the sand? In top of the piston? Why are you replacing valve cover
