I mounted mine on the inside of the engine hatch. I am sure that someone will say that is not where it should be but that is where the fire will be and if I can't open the hatch to use it. I will be jumping over board. I have been stopped two times ( one for a speeding ticket ) and once to check me out for proper equipment, and have had no problem with where it is mounted.

Was thinking about a spot under the cowl myself but haven't gotten around to it. That is a clean looking spot for it.

Mounting the fire extinguisher on the inside of the engine hatch may be a bad idea. If it did not explode from the heat of the fire, it will certainly be too hot for you to handle. Also, the fire may have melted the mounting straps that the extinguisher may have fell into the fire, preventing you from reaching for it. And even if you were able to grab the extinguisher, the fire may have melted the plastic components of the head (valve, nozzle, handle, lever, etc.) rendering it useless.

Like I said, if the fire is that intense I will not need it and will not be on board to use it. If it explodes then it may put the fire out all by it self.

No picture, but I mounted mine on the under side of the bench seat. I didn't want to drill holes in the fiberglass... plus it's out of sight yet easily accessible.
