I have an install question...
I want to install a small bracket to the floor of the starboard forward under-seat locker.
This is the area where the floor is flat and covered in grey carpet material under the forward seating.
There are screws run through a similar area in the stern (battery locker area).

My thought is to use a short, course threaded wood screw.

Before I run a screw through the hull I thought I might ask opinions....

For reference my boat is the 2014 24 footer.

I'm not sure the correct size for that application. I've never been a good judge of that. View media item 3313

Hey Dennis that is exactly the outcome I was hoping to avoid!

I'm almost 99% sure that the hull in this bow area is a double hull so a short screw through the floor will be no problem BUT 99% isn't sure enough when the possible result is a complete disaster

Yeah, somebody posted that pic on another website years ago and it really caught my eye.

One thing that you could do to help gauge things is to see if there are screws already set in the floor in that area (for example a bracket or wall divider). Then maybe remove one of those screws and poke a thin wire in the screw hole. This might help you gauge how thick the floor is and what it's constructed of. I'd think that it's made of wood, but I'm not 100% sure that to be true. If it is, you could simply use a screw length that you're certain won't penetrate through the wood. If it's not wood, I'd probably make a wood base for whatever you're mounting and simply glue it to the fiberglass floor of the boat and sink your mounting screws into that.

Anyway, good luck with your decision.

Good idea with the glue....going to investigate that direction!
Thanks

Any result on this? I'm thinking of putting a sub-box in my AR192 in the port side locker under the glove box. the floor is flat and the hull is angled so it really seems like there should be empty space. Would love if anybody has done this or if @Evildwarf took any pics of his final install.

I am looking at doing something similar. I purchased some 3/4" Starboard (white and black) and will cut a few small blocks and then glue them to the side wall/floor in the compartment. If I ever need to remove them, I can just cut them loose with an oscillating blade at the glue line. Using Starboard or similar material means I don't have to worry about moisture or rot.
