Sea Doo Spark

So the girlfriend won a Sea Doo Spark through a drawing from Budweiser and our local grocery store. We went and picked it up last night and took her out so that we could decide whether we should keep it or not. It was cold, but still fun to get out on the water!!!

It's the base 60hp 2 seater, but I will have to say that it was fun to ride & you obviously can't beat free!!! pretty quick on take off and felt very loose, like it could have potential to be a really fun ski....reminded me of some of the old ski's that I had ridden that you could do 360's etc on, unfortunately as cold as it was I didn't push it to far. overall it is a lil rough, but that was expected w/o trim and only weighing 350 lbs, but it was definitely quick & fun to ride

Keeping it Seems like a no brainier too me. If I had one I'd try and figure out a way to put it on the boat's trailer and/or on the swim deck of the boat itself.

Very nice! If we won one, I would be adding a hitch to our minivan. That way I could pull the boat with my truck and she could pull the jetski with the van. My kids would LOVE a jetski!

I might be in the minority, but I would sell it and get more toys and/or mods for the boat. But we do not have the capability to tow a boat and a sea doo so the boat will always win when we go to the lake. The sea doo will sit unused.

I'd sell it as well, nothing against them but I just wouldn't use it enough to keep it...you still have to pay taxes and such for it right?

well we are still up in the air as to whether we should keep it or not, I already have a Kawasaki Ultra 150 that's a rocket, so if we keep it that would mean 2 jet ski's and a boat....I'm just not sure we can really justify that living in Iowa w/such a short amount of time that you can spend on the water....

We're still throwing things around, but if we don't keep it we are either going to sell it or even both the ski's to get a pair of quads or a better horse trailer for her

@Volffas, that is one of the major things that we are considering when deciding if we should sell it or not...the kids absolutely LOVE the jet ski's and the older 2 are actually getting to the age where they would be able to take them out w/o us, so it could be something really fun for them to do as well

For us living 15 minutes from the river it would be a no brainer. We could even take it out on evenings after work and not have to worry about dealing with everything associated with the boat. But I can see how someone who lives far from the water would see it as a pain to haul back and forth.

Of course like @spaz1868 said, I might start thinking about selling it and adding perfect pass to the boat, getting the new cover that it needs and maybe even buying a quadcopter to fly behind the boat. But I think I would try it for a season and see what happens from there. I really don't think it will depreciate that much between now and next July. If you use it and like it, you can keep it. If not, sell it and buy some more toys.

Around here pwcs rent out for $200 to $400 each per day. I take them out when I want to boat alone, feel the need for speed and / or don't want to deal with trailering at 20 + foot boat. I loan my skis out to my brother and some friends occasionally, when my son is old enough he will be able to take them out on his own as well. I'll never loan out my boat. I suspect that if you tow the boat with a truck the spark's weight and size would make it possible to easily transport it in the bed of the truck.

yea, it is extremely light weight...it probly wouldn't be that bad to haul in the bed of the truck...i'll have to bring that up when we discuss again as well

hahaha, that black one is the one that it was sitting on at the dealership...the white one is mine

Will they be 1099ing her for the value of the ski. I say keep it, ride it this spring then sell it when the prices are high if you dont love it.

I'm sort of thinking that may be the plan for now, storage for the winter isn't a problem so we can always ride it a lil bit early spring and then sell it when it gets warm
