I’ve got a 16’ 242 limited S, just purchased a Simrad GO7XSE with total scam transducer. Looking for advice on where’s the best place to mount he transducer. Pics are helpful. Any advice would be appreciated.

Mine (regular, not total scan) is in the same place. Works extremely well at speed.

I mounted mine to the bottom of the ride plate. No issues after a year.

@Rob9550 did you screw it to the ride plate or just glue it. If you screwed it to the ride plate how difficult was it getting the plate off?

555ABBA3-4CA6-47CD-AA46-B095DDD9B9E7.jpeg Hey guys; first post.
I mounted my totalscan (Elite Ti) to the ride plate on the fsh 190, similarly to some other members but I used Lowrance’s flush mount bracket ($47ish amazon).
Perfect readings all the way to 41mph.

I drilled small holes and installed with the supplied screws. I then sealed with 4200 sealant to keep water from getting under it. I didn't need to remove plate.

So you had to take the ride plate off? How difficult was that?

No, I drilled up through the bottom and then installed the screws into the transducer.

Same for me, I did not remove the ride plate. I drilled, tapped, and used a small amount of thread locker on stainless screws. Then I fished the cable through the drain hose for the live well scupper.

Works fine, no clearance issues. You just have to remember its not a perfect centered side scan. But completely readable. I have it set up so that sidescan shows up on the map line when zoomed in a bit. Only works at lower speeds on the map. Not sure exactly what speeds it starts to map the sidescan but its very cool

What happens at 41. You loose the bottom? Any negative effect on steering? What boat is this? Do you find that the rudder is in the way of the side scan?

Why were you worried about water intrusion behind the mount? Do you find that the Rudder is in the way of the side scan?
