I just recently picked up a 2021 Yamaha FSH 195 and have had the familiar problem of the transom tie downs become lose while trailering.
While replacing the factory bow roller I noticed that the winch post was lose and was able to move back and forth by using my hand. I assumed the bolts weren’t properly tightened so I bolts. When I attached the winch strap and tightened the boat to the bow roller it was still moved.
After looking over the design I noticed that the lower bolts basically clamp the post to the tongue and there are gaps between the through bolts and the bottom of the trailer tongue. The would explain why stoping hard then re-tightening the transom straps. The boat is able to slide forward due to the winch post moving.
My plan is to install SS bolt sleeves over the existing bolts to fill the gap and this should prevent the winch post from moving. I’ll keep this updated with the results.
